About Us

Simcoe Urban Native (S.U.N.) Housing Inc. is a not-for-profit organization offering safe and affordable housing to Indigenous families in the City of Barrie, Ontario. 

Established in 1979, S.U.N. Housing started under the Urban Native Housing (U.N.H.) program through CMHC. This program was designed for housing organizations to purchase rental units and offer rent subsidies for low to moderate income Indigenous families.

S.U.N. Housing started with just a few units. Our portfolio quickly grew and we currently have a total of 59.

• 51 of our units are for families consisting of 2, 3 and 4 bdrm
• 8 units are for our seniors aged 50 plus
